Artist presentation

Dimitris Fotiadis

I am a self-taught photographer, filmmaker, and award-winning screenwriter. My work moves between cinema, photography, and literature, shaped by a deep interest in atmosphere, emotional realism, and poetic storytelling.

As a photographer, I am drawn to black-and-white aesthetics, natural light, and the quiet intensity of intimate human moments. My images often carry a cinematic quality, capturing silence, longing, and psychological depth, while exploring themes such as memory, desire, solitude, and transformation.

Artist statement

My work explores intimacy, silence, and emotional tension through a cinematic and poetic lens. Working primarily with black-and-white photography and natural light, I am interested in moments that feel suspended in time—where gesture, gaze, and atmosphere reveal inner states rather than narrative conclusions. I approach the human body and presence as fragile landscapes shaped by memory, desire, solitude, and transformation, allowing ambiguity and restraint to guide the image. Influenced by cinema and literature, my practice focuses on emotional realism and visual control, seeking to uncover the quiet beauty that exists within darkness, stillness, and psychological depth.
