Lucía González Dapía

Lucía González Dapía (b. 2002, Verín) is a self-taught photographer currently based in Santiago de Compostela, where she is finishing her studies in mathematics. With a background in classical piano and a lifelong curiosity for image-making, photography has quietly accompanied her for years. Her practice began with documenting everyday life, slowly shifting toward intimate portraits of loved ones. Though she is at the beginning of her path and still searching for direction, she is committed to taking photography seriously as a space of expression. She recently participated in the FotoSlovo 2025 open call.

Artist statement

I’m drawn to people’s expressions and the way they pose in front of the camera. I started by photographing everyday scenes, but lately my focus has shifted more toward portraiture. I’ve also been experimenting with printed images—folding, re-scanning, layering—not as a fixed method, but as a way to see what happens when a photo is pushed beyond its first version. I’m still figuring things out, following what feels visually interesting.
