Artist presentation

Nico Adrian Hölzl

I've been photographing all my life, but never with a certain consistency or seriousness, loose projects and series, or starting something here and there but never finishing it. That changed last year when I purchased the then new Polaroid I2 and immediately expanded my passion for instant photography and have been shooting daily ever since, continuing on my path, along with Polaroid film with the overall topics being home in still life photography, but also nature and landscape photography. Because of that I also tried out other analog mediums like 35, 110 and 120mm film formats with cameras from my family or which I purchased for little money elsewhere. Trying out everything possible to path my creative way into the art world and try making a living out of it.

Artist statement

An excerpt from one of my primary still life series, titled Still Life XIV, inspired by the French Sun King Louis XIV. The name refers to the Polaroid film I work with, which requires a lot of light. I use natural sunlight falling on my windowsill, similar to the still life works of Josef Sudek.
