Artist statement
The Thing.
The state in which a person exists when he finds himself in a deserted space and immerses himself in the landscape, as in a material enveloping the body, is much easier to convey by shooting on film, as on a physical rather than a digital storage medium. The graininess of the negative mentally refers to the air becoming heavy, changing its state of aggregation to an almost liquid substance. Immersion in nature and meditative merging with it is an attempt to explore reality, breaking it down into layers: from the superficial and transparent to the deep, viscous and subconscious, accessible only to those who know how to look through their inner feelings.
