Pasha Frolov

Pasha Frolov is a photographer. He is interested in subtle visual phenomena uncertain, marginal, and barely perceptible. His images explore stillness, distance, and quiet tension within the visible. Artist statement

Perfect Red 032c is a series of photographs taken in Azerbaijan during a trip in 2025. It all began with the flag: I was struck by its red a color that felt almost foreign against the surrounding environment. Later I found out that this particular shade matches what’s known as “Red 032c”  a saturated, idealized red. This red seems to push everything else aside  too bright, too self-assured, too “European” to simply dissolve into the warm dusty air, the limestone walls, the soft greenery, and the unhurried

rhythm of everyday life in the South Caucasus. And in that contrast, the series found its entry point: observing how this red coexists with things that feel quiet, faded, warm, and a little tired. I watched it appear and disappear sometimes literally as paint, sometimes as temperature, as

mood, or simply as presence. I wasn’t interested in documenting the color itself, but rather how it feels within this landscape. The series is built on observation, on attention to material and environment where red is not an accent, but a participant in the space.
